Wales based bakery D. Gibbon & Son Ltd needed a print and apply solution to replace an end of life model and, more importantly, to enable variable bold text printing for new labelling legislation. During visits by their familiar engineer, the customer was assisted in selecting and ordering a Top-Print and Apply system which was perfectly suited to their needs.
"When we decided it was time to order a new labeller we were introduced to the LP400 range of VWS equipment by our local engineer. Having looked after the labelling machines on our site for many years we were able to fully trust his recommendations. The new labeller was delivered on time and installed efficiently. We were trained on the machine by the engineer following installation and he also attended to install our required product formats and templates."

QK Meats needed a bespoke barcode format to be included onto their label formats for one of their major customers in South Africa. They required their existing Gemini Lightning weigh label machines to be capable of producing a GS1 type barcode across all of their product lines by early 2015.
A site survey was conducted in April 2014 to ascertain the full specification of the work required and to assess the current condition of the machines. Sureservice recommended a solution involving both software and hardware modifications to the machinery.
The software required involved the integration of the VWS Nexus label design suite into the Gemini Lightning software and the hardware to be upgraded to Xpe (embedded) to run this software. Sureservice also recommended a full service and overhaul of the machines as part of the process.
In order to minimise machine downtime and to enable QK to be fully operational for their forthcoming summer busy period, Sureservice carried out the work, 7,000 miles from the UK, in two periods of 2 weeks each. 10 lines were upgraded and refurbished in this time.
"SureService provided us with a solution that enabled QK Meats to continue supplying our major customer without having to make whole machine line changes. We have been operating with the Gemini Lightning equipment for many years now and it has been a solid performer for our needs. The whole process was delivered as planned and to timescale and budget. We are now rolling out these new barcodes across our products. Following the refurbishment and upgrades, machine performance and reliability has improved dramatically".

Lincolnshire based meat processing plant Tulip (Boston) Ltd needed a weigh price labelling solution to allow for extra product lines which are active over the Christmas period. Key criteria for the requirement were lead time and the ability to meet strict delivery dates. Following recommendations by our Technical Director an order was placed for a 2nd User Gemini Lightning and a new VWS Octopus Automatic.
"When looking for a quick solution to an impending project we were offered the choice of 2nd user and new equipment and ultimately were able to order a combination of both. The 2nd User Gemini was delivered first and was installed before the scheduled requirement date. It looked immaculate considering it wasn't a brand new machine. Installation was fast and efficient. The new Octopus Automatic was delivered three weeks later and Sureservice Ltd arranged all special transport etc. to ensure we had the machine when we needed it".
